Mother

Happy Birthday Mummy
Happy Birthday Mummy

Our mother
Like you
There's no other.
We love you more
Than words can utter.

For us
You did ensure
The wealth true:
Confidence
In ourself
You grew.

We are strong
Do no wrong
Take on reality
Fight adversity
As growing up
We saw you
A mother
Like none other

Our mother
Like you
There's no other.
We love you more
Than words can utter,
We love you more
Than words can utter.

Eyes

Your eyes reveal

Kindness
Sadness
Madness

Laughter
And
Glitter

Or

Bitter
And
Anger

Keenness
Meanness
Curiosness

Boredom
Or just dumb,

Desire or dream,

Or shielding shrewd
And outright rude,

A guilt sheer
Or fear clear?

Truth sneaks out
From your eyes
And
Reveals both
Your rise, your fall,
Gives a glimpse
Of your soul.

Eyes know your 'all',
Your wounds and wisdom,
Your greed, your glare,
They reflect it all.

What stories silent,
Sealed lips hide,
Your eyes
Whisper them all.
When your lips rest
your eyes work best

Post pandemic do’s and don’ts

We shall overcome
Do not ask folks
How they are,
They may not
Want to recall
Many a scar.

Say,

'Good to see you',
I'm here to help you.

Do not presume
All's well,
Maybe they chose
On issues
Not to dwell.

Say,

'Whatever it is,
May you heal,
It will take time,
Want some ice water
With a squash of lime?

Do not share
How awesome
Your staycation was,
Some have had to bear
Irreparable loss.

Say,

'Hey, want some coffee,
Let's bond over
Some cookies and tea'.

Do not expect
A 100 percent
Of pre pandemic 'Normal'
To return will take,
An effort decent.

Say,

'You'll get there,
For you, we truly care.

Do not assume
Its easy for all,
To switch gears
And let go fears,
Some maybe
Unwilling to return.

Say,

'We hold your hand
At every twist
And at every turn,
First of all,
Your well-being
Is our concern'.

Do not presume,
All will be OK
With everyone,
So many are taking
Each day as it'll come.

Do not presume
Everything is alright,
Some are trying
To find
Their lost light.

Say,

'You'll overcome,
Here, have some
Chocolate yum.

Don't mind
If someone won't smile
They'll take a while.

Say,

'Hope it will
Get better soon,
May your day be
A perfect boon'.

GUESS, GUESS, GUESS!

A day comes

What mattered always, you must let go.

A day comes
When what mattered,
You must let go.
You just know,
You give up.

It is the day
You are just
a little less alive
But you survive.

Like the cat's
last lonely walk
around the street,
In extreme heat.
Losing hope,
To find a bite
To chew, to eat.

Both you and the cat
So much alike,
Until next dawn,
Both just survive.

Will the cat
Without the hat,
Not named Tom,
Nor pretty
Hello Kitty,
Find a fish
In a dish
Or Jerry the rat?

And you,
Will you ever
Overcome that?
The day is new but you are no longer what YOU were.

Hinglish nursery rhyme for 3-4 year olds.

Baarish aayaa
Dham dham dham,
Paani mein khelu
Mai chhum chhum chhum
Mamma banaaye
Pakode yum yum yum
Rain please
Come, come, come
To the puddle
I run, run, run.
Taking my new chhatri
To school is fun, fun, fun.

Pooh tu ho jaa chhoo

Mommy muses…

Good bye
On the purple couch
She does belong,
And she sings along,
Between numbers divine-
Ruth B's 'Lost boy'
She plays again,
And humming Trampoline,
By amazing Shaed and Zayn,
My princess shifts,
In the next moment,
Taylor Swift's
Melody drifts.

Outdoors, the Virus
Covid 19 corpses pile,
Indoors 24 by 7,
Locked down we cope
To keep alive hope,
Try home remedies so naive,
Praying they do survive,
Days elapsed more than
Three Sixty Five.

I keep glued my eye
To the 15×17" screen,
On the digital
'virtual' platform
I 'Meet' strangers,
And also my own,
Our voices low,
Our spirit sunk,
With cameras off
On Zoom,
Our world's shrunk
Into our living room.

Her O level Exams
In 2021 scheduled,
How short a reign
Childhood ruled!
I feel cheated
By Time, fooled.

Am I ready
For the silence
That will follow soon,
For Papa Johns pizza,
No more sulky tantrum,
No one over-the-moon?

Am I ready
To say goodbye
As she'll pack
My heavy heart
In her backpack?

Are moms able
To recall
How to thrive?
Or do they amidst
A mount of
Muted memories cry?

Will I pretend
To smile and survive,
Counting each day,
Till my kid beloved,
For a short visit
Will arrive next May?
Is that how I'll
Suddenly, rapidly
Go wrinkled and grey?

Till then,
Though listless,
Am I suppose to
Just breathe,
And glance
At lifeless doors
And dull chores replete
Just repeat, repeat, repeat, and repeat?

How do I thrive
After my nestling,
Far away will fly,
Into a distant sky?

At 4, she ruined my lipstick, scribbling
‘Mamma I ❤ you’

WHEN SUNDROPS BLESS

Sundrops bless this endeavour,
My intent backed with effort,
I spent hour after hour,
In gathering Voices
In these pages,
Poems to discover,
From the 'limited' time
Before my knell does chime,
I spend it in
Poetry, soft and sublime.
May you pick your favourite lines,
In this collection
I offer moments held
Fresh insights and subtle rhymes.
May the universe conspire
And may sundrops
Bless all my endeavours.

NURSERY RHYME: Vary very very

One more poem kids! Enjoy😇🌷🌼🌻🌺🥀🌹🏵💮🌸⚘

Sunflower, a sunny flower,
How I love you,
You are bright and sunny too.

Lilac and lavender,
Forever, a floral wonder,
Soft like velvet
Are Violets to touch,
I love you so much.

Roses red or Lilies white
Daisies pink or Marigolds more,
Next to what
By whose side,
Go in my bouquet
I can't decide!

Blue bell, a true blue
Upright, smiling bold,
On my palm a delight
So light to hold.

All flowers we like,
Love their sight
And sweet smells too,
None are alike
All vary very,
Just like me and you!

A very flowery prayer

Wishing you a Good Morning

By Amita Sanghavi

May pure, pink love
Blissful and divine
Bloom within your mind,
And may peace release
A sweet sense of ease,
And form a floral,
'Feel-good' design.

May you hold faith,
With moments defined,
Of memories and musings
Melodious and refined.

And may your lips
Like petals unfurl,
Into a smile serene
As your desires fulfil,
May your buds of hope
Flower like a dream.
