First day of October

October bring all that’s happier!
First day gone,
Will October bring
A joyful song to sing?

First day gone,
Will October bring
A new friend to ping?

First day gone,
Will October bring
A reason to keep smiling?
Four more months- the last quarter begins

Quest

How do you want to become better? What do you need to unlearn and what self belief do you need to let go?
What have you questioned,
About yourself lately?

What have you deliberated on?
About who you are,
What do you want to do,
With your limited time here?

Are you spending time, Reflecting on
How you want things
To be different
Or better about yourself?

Are you willing to look,
Into what you need,
To change about yourself?

Observe a few minutes
Of silence,
A meditative, quiet, self-reflection time.

Focus on what is within.

Raising sons…

Raising sons to respect and care for women
Dear Mothers,

Hope you empower women

And as mothers proudly

Raise sons as gentlemen,

Charming, kind,

Mindful, possessing

Real integrity.

Men who are praised

For absolute chivalry.

They hold doors,

Happily help in chores,

Make their women

Feel like royal ladies.

Mothers, whose sons,

Are their dears,

And raise gentlemen

For others' darling

daughters:

And their sons know

the lady's real worth,

Settle for nothing less

As they walk this earth.

You, who give birth,

You do recall:

You

Rock the cradle,

You

Rule the world!
Gender roles have to be replaced by ‘Life skills’ for one and all.

Teach your daughter this:

You are empowered

If your bank account is

surplus and sufficient,

Your house help is

Regular and efficient,

If you are well-trained,

On raising your profit

quotient,

And no one dares to

Stop or question,

Your spending decision.

You are empowered

If you walk to work

Without being taunted

Or made to feel guilty

To not first give birth;

But instead encouraged

To up your own worth,

And decide if you are

Ready to bring

A life on earth.

You are empowered,

If you have your

Own house and

Medical insurance,

Not empty promises,

or false ‘future’

assurance.

You are empowered,

If you are not distracted

To ‘appease’ as

An object of beauty,

Rather raised with

self -defence skills

And busy raising

Your immunity.

You are empowered

If your effort is

Rewarded,

Your results applauded,

But most of all,

Your smile is tear-proof,

You enjoy being

Your truly unique self,

Not pressured to be

A colour, a height,

A certain weight,

That you need

To ‘improve’.

You are not empowered

If you are obsessed,

To be accepted by others,

or

Give yourself up,

Just to be 'approved'.

Hold peace today

Today ensure

Words are not flung,

No heart is with

Harsh words stung.

A thousand splendid

Truths we realise

When we observe silence,

And choose to be wise.

Affirm to yourself

once, twice, thrice,

Words are over-priced,

If at all I speak,

Only goodwill

And blessings,

My words ought to

Either spread or seek.

Words are meant to be

In prayers sung,

Silence is

My mother tongue,

Quiet is

My other tongue.

Speak only if you can improve upon the silence and add real value by uttering words.

Happy Children’s day India!

A poem for kids:

'My Train Journey'
'My Train Journey'
My train journey
Was just lovely,
I met kids
Who were funny,
We laughed a lot
At each station
Hot snacks we bought.

Chhuk chhuk
Chhuk chhuk
Chug chug
Chug chug
Went the train,
The rhythm felt
Like a refrain.

I know not when
A thug came
A thief he was,
Who stole a pack
Of my croissant plain;
I thought to complain,
But my train started
So it would go in vain.

Chhuk chhuk,
Chhuk chhuk,
Chug chug,
Chug chug,
Went the train,
The rhythm felt
Like a refrain.

I watched peacocks
I think I saw a fox,
I now closely guarded
My chocolate box.

And all the while
As the train sped
Mile after mile,
Thinking of Granny
My face had a smile.

Chhuk chhuk
Chhuk chhuk
Chug chug
Chug chug
Went the train,
The rhythm felt
Like a refrain.

I slept off then,
And didn't know when
My station came!
As I heard the name
Mumbai CST announced,
I rushed at the door,
And almost fell
On the station floor!

Thank God on board
I was travelling light,
Quickly Grand Pa held me,
And hugged me tight.
Chhuk chhuk chhuk chhuk,
chug chug chug chug

Disentangle

From little to more,
We are entangled
In daily life
Our mind and heart
Tired and mangled.

Take a deep breath,
Now with force exhale,
And let it all go,
Repeat again and again,
Till you know
The heaviness is gone,
You don't feel
Overwhelmed and low.

To yourself
Just remind,
To:
Disentangle,
Distance,
Detach.
You can't always
Yourself grind,
Free yourself
From burdens,
From 'Musts'
And 'Shoulds'
Do not your mind,
So strictly bind.

Life takes care
Of itself,
There are times
To put in every effort,
To be in the front,
And at times,
It's your moment,
To let go,
With grace bow,
To hold back,
Withdraw and rest,
And pray for the best.
This too shall pass

Mother

Happy Birthday Mummy
Happy Birthday Mummy

Our mother
Like you
There's no other.
We love you more
Than words can utter.

For us
You did ensure
The wealth true:
Confidence
In ourself
You grew.

We are strong
Do no wrong
Take on reality
Fight adversity
As growing up
We saw you
A mother
Like none other

Our mother
Like you
There's no other.
We love you more
Than words can utter,
We love you more
Than words can utter.

In between silences

Sheer poetry
In between silences,
A few words
Fly in,
Birds from faraway
Skies of ideas,
Carrying a new story,
In sheer poetry.

Anticipation

Problems are wrapped solutions. Unwrap and solve!
Step out

With a feeling

Of anticipation.

Do resolve

To learn from

Both experiences,

Bitter and sweet,

The life lesson:

Duality is the norm,

And co-existence is

To go with the flow,

Or choose to decide

Your own journey,

And harder your boat

You must row.

Continually emerge

Stronger and evolve.

Embrace a pinch

Of true dynamism

Remember wrapped inside

the nagging problem,

Hides the solution.
You are stronger than you believe!

September, here’s ‘orders’ to all 30 of you!

MR.SEPTEMBER, DO BEHAVE!
Mr. September!

As you have arrived,

Here,

Sign your bona fide:

You'll be kind

To one and all.

You won't barge in

With unexpected stuff.

You'll not spoil

Any plans or

Snatch any smiles

That are wide

And grins so 'on',

You won't make

Anyone forlorn,

Especially

As this Covid,

Has gone on and on.

You'll do your best,

Be hope-fulfilling,

Generous and giving

Letting all just rest.

And you -

September 2nd,

I see you sneaking in,

As you are here

So fast, already!

Come on, fix all

That's messy

Make all things steady.

Forget not

The orders I gave,

Mr.September,

You better behave!

(G😄😄D M😄RNING ALL.
I HAVE INSTRUCTED SEPTEMBER IN GENERAL AND SEPT. 2nd TO BEHAVE.
😄😄😄😄😄😄😄😄😄😄)

Draw the line.

Life is not about just having. Life is more about living. Life is more about experiencing rather than accumulating. Money is no doubt very essential for enabling empowerment. There are no two things about it. But to live less in order to earn more and just have more at the cost of too much stress and no fun is where we need to truly reflect and slow down on the chase, if we have inadvertently fallen into it in the first place. Life is more when you follow your heart with your mind open and in control. Decide where to draw the line. Its your life and your time on the planet is your greatest gift to live it fully and fulfillingly. Balance is the key. But do not wait too long to do what you really feel like. Do not keep pushing away your heart’s desires too far, too long. Go live well and live more💝.

A new day, a new way…be AWESOME today!

Be YOU and do MORE!
Work becomes effortless

When you perform

With keen interest

And sincerity.

When you do your best

Out of anxiety,

You block the flow

Of fresh ideas.

When you do your best

Calmly and with love,

Your ideas like a fount

Seem endless and

Excite you to do more.

This brings magic

To your work,

This is the 'extra'

In the ordinary:

The extraordinary.

Choose well!

Pause. Ponder. Lift yourself higher.

Getting older is inevitable. But growing older is slightly different, because when you grow older, you don’t lose the sense of humor, the ability to wonder, feel the curiosity and the sense of enthusiasm as well as the sense of marvel. Are you growing older or getting old? It is a decision. Your decision. Isn’t it?

Mommy muses…

Good bye
On the purple couch
She does belong,
And she sings along,
Between numbers divine-
Ruth B's 'Lost boy'
She plays again,
And humming Trampoline,
By amazing Shaed and Zayn,
My princess shifts,
In the next moment,
Taylor Swift's
Melody drifts.

Outdoors, the Virus
Covid 19 corpses pile,
Indoors 24 by 7,
Locked down we cope
To keep alive hope,
Try home remedies so naive,
Praying they do survive,
Days elapsed more than
Three Sixty Five.

I keep glued my eye
To the 15×17" screen,
On the digital
'virtual' platform
I 'Meet' strangers,
And also my own,
Our voices low,
Our spirit sunk,
With cameras off
On Zoom,
Our world's shrunk
Into our living room.

Her O level Exams
In 2021 scheduled,
How short a reign
Childhood ruled!
I feel cheated
By Time, fooled.

Am I ready
For the silence
That will follow soon,
For Papa Johns pizza,
No more sulky tantrum,
No one over-the-moon?

Am I ready
To say goodbye
As she'll pack
My heavy heart
In her backpack?

Are moms able
To recall
How to thrive?
Or do they amidst
A mount of
Muted memories cry?

Will I pretend
To smile and survive,
Counting each day,
Till my kid beloved,
For a short visit
Will arrive next May?
Is that how I'll
Suddenly, rapidly
Go wrinkled and grey?

Till then,
Though listless,
Am I suppose to
Just breathe,
And glance
At lifeless doors
And dull chores replete
Just repeat, repeat, repeat, and repeat?

How do I thrive
After my nestling,
Far away will fly,
Into a distant sky?

At 4, she ruined my lipstick, scribbling
‘Mamma I ❤ you’

From Mom to her Teenagers

Twinkling Teens
Its not just about
How long you are
Glued onto the screen
That I shout,
But more about
What valuable work
you actually did,
Was it important indeed?

And more about
How you forgot
To take healthy breaks
And remind you
Actions back a dream,
I am most concerned,
Can't you listen
My silent plea
Need I scream?

Its not just about
What rule to abide
You simply refuse,
But that you confuse
The difference between
Yelling and telling,
And how to say nay.

Its not just about
Clock hours you miss
But more about keeping promises
And convey in actions
All your heartfelt apologies.

Its not just about
Questioning your choices
But more about
Keeping low prices
And lower voices.

Its not about
Criticising you
But more about
Perfectly preparing you
In order to realise
Your full potential
To ensure you make
Decisions wise,
And higher and higher
You always rise.
Its tough love I know
As a mom I too grow,
My duties' call
I hope you realise,
You are my beloved
My joy in your
Empowerment lies,
How do I pat my back otherwise?
