The usual understanding of surrender is feeling desperate, feeling helpless and giving up, and turning to a higher/superior power for resolution/help/ support/miracle. To a great extent, this understanding of surrender is true for all of us.
But one can go deeper and understand that real and total surrender are at a different level. After putting in every possible effort and failing and feeling helpless, due to any situation, circumstance or human behaviour, one has to go through the feelings of shock, disillusionment, helplessness, sorrow and acceptance of many things, such as, accepting that one is not in control of what life has in store, that nothing comes with guarantee, that one is not strong and powerful enough to overcome every setback; but most of all one then REALISES that seeking strength and bowing to a higher entity in peace, with a completely humbled heart, and a calm sort of detached disposition with being wiser of ALL human predicament, and turning to both faith and hope in some kind of divine intervention, is Surrender.
To be desperate, feel helpless, pray and plead and beg to the higher entity in the hour of sorrow or need is not actual surrender. That is mere desperation.
Actual, real surrender is total acceptance and wisdom of one's limitations and realisation that now only someone or something beyond the human realm can make a difference.
Understanding and realising the true essence of surrender truly is freeing ourself from misery, and believing that a kind, higher energy is at work, that may ease things if you let go and keep faith and hope and move inwards in peace and prayer, connecting with that higher realm of energy.
Today and everyday As we pray, For our near and dear, Let us include And pray too For all humans Far and distant, Who are in pain, And may respite gain. May they heal for sure, Let's wish all will cure, From our heart, Prayerful, kind and pure.
Good Morning! May you hold Gratitude for all You are blessed with.
May you silent the noises of worry and stress and fear. May you find your peace as you use words of hope and thoughts of love. May the mind retain and recall your favourite music, your favourite songs, your favourite flavours and beautiful memories. May your heart be filled with contentment and courage.
The squirrel seems Less playful, The wind seems Much heavier, The sun seems Much distant, The laughter seems Much hollower, The chat seems Much mundane, The debate seems Much effort, The meal seems Much familiar, The water seems Much nauseous, The heart seems Much numb, The mind seems Much dumb. It's one of those days, Only music seems Mystical, magical, Music has it's healing ways.
Success is the result of our genuine talent, sincere effort and strong decision to not give up before we achieve our goal. Yes. But then how is it that only few succeed while many do not, despite of the talent, effort and determination?
We do reflect- oh the timing was not right, or some stroke of bad luck...etc.
I feel above and beyond the obvious, there are four more things- our success is attained as it is:
First, God is answering someone else's prayer.
Two, our success is fruit of our ripened past good karma.
Three, our success is a blessing recieved.
Four, our success is pre determined, our path calls us, as we are chosen to be instrumental in accomplishing larger designs for the larger good.
So is our success something to be proud of, or not? I think actually it is better to keep our grace and have a gratitude-filled heart towards a universal supreme energy and understand our success as a rich and truly humbling experience when we count how many people indirectly or directly helped us get this success, get us here. So ours, is then, the role of an instrument and to be chosen as an instrument we may feel gratitude, exercise detachment and show affection. We must do what we do to feel alive with excitement while doing our work, feel alive with joy when we accomplish, live in that moment fully and then detach and move on to something different and new- for a rolling stone gathers no moss, and well, we cannot cling to one success forever just like we cannot keep on eating sugar forever!
Taste success, devour it, savour it, then 'gargle' with humbleness and gratitude, cleaning your mind, heart and soul and keep moving on...
Uncertainty: It is a gap, A blur, The distance, Between the answer, And its question.
It is the time When we have to sit back, Not knowing, What's next in line, Feeling fear and lack. Its best to wait, And let the universe, Gather its intelligence, And put the best stuff, Together for us.
Uncertainty is quite An humbling experience. It makes us patient, And lean on faith, And seek divine guidance.
Just breathe. Just be. May the universe conspire, And may you wait out; For those who wait patiently, Also serve.
Accept uncertainty, Let life unfold. In the face of uncertainty, Be stoic, be bold.
Sometimes for no obvious Or explicable reason, You may just feel Your heart is heavier, Your mood is low, Your reflexes are slow.
Usually around this time, Same day, same time, In the past, You have faced, A devastating setback.
The heart has not forgotten, The mind has not overcome, But you have moved on.
At such moments, It helps to do Pranayam. Meditate. Be gentle with yourself. Do some new artwork. Read a new poem. Smell the flowers. Direct your attention To chanting or prayers And observe meditation.
Reward yourself With care and compassion. Instead of avoiding The feeling, be with it. Accept it. Improve on self-preservation And self-care.
This too shall pass. Hope you have a good life ahead.
In every difficult situation in life, the only way to be in charge is to control your mind, control your tongue and control your actions. It is smarter to be more in control of yourself than to try and control others. Silencing the mind and overcoming negativity, overthinking and judgemental presumptions, are all necessary in trying times.
In the end, its all about this: You can't control others, you can't control the world, so just learn to control yourself.
Walk down any hospital ward. You will find patients of all shapes, sizes, ages with different maladies. A sportsperson has a spine surgery, so does an accident victim and so does a housewife bending to pick up toys - spine surgery when she has had a slip disc. A person who religiously did Yoga, went to the Gym, also ends up with cancer like an obese person who suffered genetic obesity or hormone imbalance. None of us can escape pain.
So, in the end, do reflect and rethink how far one ought to be obsessed with one's shape, size, diet and lifestyle?
Reflect on health in being accepting and content as well as realistic. Live life's each moment fully in how you enjoy little things, have fun, do some mischief, sing a song along, walk on the beach, and enjoy your midnight snack with a grin that is a mile long.
That is NOT to say do not care or be mindful of your diet and exercise. Please DO CARE.
This is to say, do NOT be obsessed and fret about it. Have your Que sera sera moments and follow your heart.
At times, its ok to leave alone some issues for time to mend, its ok to accept life with all its discomforts- physical, mental and emotional. You have to choose your battles. You need to tred light on your own heart.
Sit with your heartache. Sit with your sadness. Feel your feelings. Grow closer to yourSELF.
And then, hum-que sera sera, whatever will be, will be, the future's not ours to see.
When you are in a somber mood, meditate on these words. Just sit thinking of the unexpected in life that throws us out of gear. In your thoughts, reflect on how often we are imbalanced in our understanding of the dualities of life. We seem to only want the good, the happy, the wellness/the healthy, the easy/ the comfortable, the best. Naturally. We must. That is absolutely normal and a must. But when the co-existing dualities occur- the bad, the sad, the illnesses, the difficult times, the challenges, the disturbing scenarios, the unexpected: are you somewhat upset or totally upset? Are you unwilling to accept or just unprepared? Do you wish the bad times just go away? But the dualities are there-they are just there.NO ESCAPE. The other side of the coin is just THERE. Finding your equanimity and balance helps, and accepting what you cannot change and changing what you can, is within your means as you are bestowed with the powers language and discretion: our two empowering tools as humans. So, go with the flow. Be patient in hard times, and use your good times to become better, with constant self-improvisation.
From little to more, We are entangled In daily life Our mind and heart Tired and mangled.
Take a deep breath, Now with force exhale, And let it all go, Repeat again and again, Till you know The heaviness is gone, You don't feel Overwhelmed and low.
To yourself Just remind, To: Disentangle, Distance, Detach. You can't always Yourself grind, Free yourself From burdens, From 'Musts' And 'Shoulds' Do not your mind, So strictly bind.
Life takes care Of itself, There are times To put in every effort, To be in the front, And at times, It's your moment, To let go, With grace bow, To hold back, Withdraw and rest, And pray for the best.
