Enter November!

Are you shawl-ready?
The month eleventh,
Cool in the desert,
Cold elsewhere,
Freezing minus ten,
Speeding to year-end.

Glance back perhaps
The time did lapse,
Memories we made,
Some of laughters
Some of regrets.

We lost some,
We found some,
People gone,
People come.

Thanksgiving month,
Gratitude to hold,
Tomorrows to behold,
With fervour,
Enter November,
Let's thank all those,
We forgot to remember.

Gratitude is the best attitude

Post pandemic do’s and don’ts

We shall overcome
Do not ask folks
How they are,
They may not
Want to recall
Many a scar.

Say,

'Good to see you',
I'm here to help you.

Do not presume
All's well,
Maybe they chose
On issues
Not to dwell.

Say,

'Whatever it is,
May you heal,
It will take time,
Want some ice water
With a squash of lime?

Do not share
How awesome
Your staycation was,
Some have had to bear
Irreparable loss.

Say,

'Hey, want some coffee,
Let's bond over
Some cookies and tea'.

Do not expect
A 100 percent
Of pre pandemic 'Normal'
To return will take,
An effort decent.

Say,

'You'll get there,
For you, we truly care.

Do not assume
Its easy for all,
To switch gears
And let go fears,
Some maybe
Unwilling to return.

Say,

'We hold your hand
At every twist
And at every turn,
First of all,
Your well-being
Is our concern'.

Do not presume,
All will be OK
With everyone,
So many are taking
Each day as it'll come.

Do not presume
Everything is alright,
Some are trying
To find
Their lost light.

Say,

'You'll overcome,
Here, have some
Chocolate yum.

Don't mind
If someone won't smile
They'll take a while.

Say,

'Hope it will
Get better soon,
May your day be
A perfect boon'.

Books

At times

A random read,

At times,

A re-read,

At times

A hasty skim,

Or rush-read the end,

Sometimes dog ear

Page seventy-seven,

At times read aloud,

Sometimes I highlight,

At times I underline

Or I scribble

A question mark,

And sometimes I just sigh.

At times in entirety,

It stays within me

Other times I need it

Visible, grab-able

In my arm’s vicinity,

Sometimes I clutch it

And cry;

And some pages

Make me smile-

At times for comfort, I visit

And re-visit and re-read;

A rapid read,

A thorough read,

Soak in it or sip it

Word by word

Or line by line,

Romp from page to page

Or recite for delight-

I light up in their presence,

They are my life’s essence,

I never cease to seize

A few off the rack,

Hold them, hug them

Overload them in my backpack,

With a true sense of

Togetherness immense,

I revere each book

With love intense.
